In most personal injury cases, including medical negligence, the time limit is two years from the date of the injury, or from the date you first knew about it if that is later. For a child, the two years usually start on their 18th birthday. It's best to get advice early, while the evidence is fresh.
It's the state body, formerly called PIAB, that assesses most personal injury claims in Ireland. You usually have to apply to it before a claim can go to court, and we prepare the application for you. Medical negligence claims don't go through the Board.
